Netflix to enter all nine seasons of Seinfeld

A surprise for fans of the nineties. Netflix announced via its social networks that the comedy series “Seinfeld” will be released on the platform from October 1. The nine seasons with a total of 180 chapters will be available within a month.

After learning that the comedy would be returning to screens, actor Jerry Seinfeld, who created and wrote the script for this production, was excited that the new generation could watch 90s comedy.

“Larry – his character – and I am so grateful to Netflix for taking this opportunity with us. Trusting two idiots who had no experience on TV when we did it takes a lot of courage,” he joked.

as you remember, Netflix got rights “Seinfeld” in 2019 in an expensive five-year deal with Sony Pictures Television, which controls distribution of the old NBC series. The show at the time was subject to a streaming agreement with Hulu, where it remained until June of this year.

‘Seinfeld’ on Netflix

With the purchase of the rights to “Seinfeld,” Netflix has included historic television comedy in its catalog, more threatened than ever by the wave of new content services that will arrive later this year.

The amount that the platform paid for the series has not been announced, but sources quoted by the Los Angeles Times indicated that it will exceed the $ 500 million that NBCUniversal paid for “The Office” and the 425 that WarnerMedia paid for “Friends.” . “

“Seinfeld” is a comedy television series that aired in the United States between 1989 and 1998, and is considered one of the most popular and influential programs of the decade.
