Musk plans to counter ChatGPT with another, less restrictive version

Billionaire Elon Musk, the sole owner of Twitter, wants to enter the artificial intelligence (AI) profession and is hiring computer engineers to develop a “chatbot” (a chatbot driven by a bot) that would rival the successful ChatGPT.

Web portal The Information, which cites three sources, ensures that Musk intends his chatbot to be less “wake-up,” that is, with fewer content restrictions on controversial issues due to political, racial, or sexual sensitivities.

To that end, it hired Igor Babushkin, an engineer who had just left Alphabet’s artificial intelligence unit called Deep Mind and who specializes in developing machine learning guidelines capable of making chat more complex and believable.

Musk did not confirm these plans, but he posted a meme on his Twitter account today in which he referred to the matter.

The “wake-up” trend of political correctness has taken hold of Elon Musk, who repeatedly accuses traditional media — newspapers and television networks — of succumbing to restrictions on speech and censoring “freedom of speech.”

Musk was a co-founder of OpenAI, the company that developed ChatGPT, but left the company in 2018 to avoid potential conflicts of interest because Tesla, the electric car company he runs, was also working on AI.
