Panama reached the octagonal final of the Confederation of North American, Central American and Caribbean Football (CONCACAF), along with El Salvador and Canada.
El Salvador defeated Saint Kitts and Nevis 2-0, and got the ticket thanks to 6-0 on aggregate. Meanwhile, Canada, with a 3-0 victory over Haiti and a 1-0 win over the first leg, reached the goal.
For his part, the national team suffered a goalless draw against Curaçao, after winning at home 2-1.
The thirteen players join Mexico, the United States, Costa Rica, Jamaica and Honduras, who are already ranked according to their position in the FIFA rankings.
The eight teams will face each other as of September 2021 in the form of a hexagon, where the best three teams will qualify directly for the World Cup that will be held in Qatar, which will start at the end of November 2022.
The fourth of the octagon will be seeded in an Intercontinental Playoff against a team from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), CONMEBOL or the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC).
