Master Penquista reaches the top of Karate

Penquista master Jose Navarrete Avila came to Boston, Massachusetts to devote himself to the pinnacle of Karate in the world. There, in the heart of the United States, the director of the Ikka Kenpo Internacional Concepción to present his examination that would give him the 10th Dan, the highest score in his specialty.

In front of a panel of teachers and with other instructors from different parts of the world, the eminent ace took the test that puts him at the top of the martial arts.

“The exam lasted for an hour, during which I had to demonstrate various techniques and forms of self-defense, and was finally approved by the commission with the third highest degree of our association, which fills me with pride as a Chilean. And above all a Penquista ”, explained Navarrete.

In this way, he is now at the helm of the International Kenpo Karate Organization, Gilbert Velez (10 dan), Doreen Derenzo (10 dan) and Jose Navarrete (10 dan). “This season I celebrated 50 years of teaching Kenpo Karate in my city to young children, women and adults. I think this is also a prize for all that long career,” he said.

The beginnings of teacher Jose Navarrete’s teaching go back to the 1970s. On April 15, 1979, he opened his first school in Concepción. In 1991 he traveled to California, USA, to train for a month at Master Ed Parker School, where he was appointed as the South American representative of the Ikka (International Kenpo Karate Association).

“My teacher today is Gilbert Velez, who is in charge of the association. In October 2019, in Talcahuano, I organized the first world championship held in Chile, with about 800 riders and school teachers. Now I travel every two years to train in the United States and I have 42 subsidiaries across the country and America South.”, he was sentenced.
