Macron called on Putin to stop military operations in Ukraine

Macron called him after speaking with the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, and conveyed this message in consultation with the latter.

According to the Elysee, The French head of state reminded Putin that his country is subject to “enormous sanctions” over the military offensive in Ukraine, which began on a large scale in the early hours of Thursday..

The French presidency indicated that Macron called the Russian president upon his arrival at the European Council in Brussels, before the start of the European Union leaders meeting.

The Community Bloc gave the green light on Thursday for new sanctions against Russia to invade Ukrainewhich covers the sectors of finance, energy, transportation and dual-use goods, as well as export control or visa policy.

The conclusions agreed during that summit specify that the list of Russian individuals affected by societal sanctions will be expanded.

On the other hand, Ukrainian Health Minister Viktor Lyashko reported that 57 Ukrainians died as a result of the Russian invasion and 169 others were injured.

Lyashko also said on Thursday that Ukrainian authorities are reallocating healthcare facilities in the country to make room for those who need medical help due to hostilities.
