La Jornada – More and more people are entering Mexico with a US visa

Mexico City. During the first two months of 2023, entry into Mexico of people with US visas increased by 85 percent.

The Ministry of the Interior reports that it has updated the Impact Document of Immigration Facilitation Measures for the Entry of Foreigners Requiring a Visa to Mexico, which regulates measures to accelerate air migration flows for those who wish to enter the country regularly.

He indicated that these procedures allow foreigners who need a visa to enter Mexico without being the holders of this document, provided that they have any of the following: Electronic Authorization System (SAE) for tourists, businessmen and visitors without a paid activity permit. from Russia, Ukraine and Turkey; Permanent Resident Card for foreigners living in the United States, Canada, Japan, and the Schengen Area; Members of the Pacific Alliance Business Travel Card (ABTC).

The document highlights an 85 percent increase in entries for residents who used a US visa, 74,955, compared to the same period in 2022 which recorded 40,527 events.

The total number of air tickets for foreigners who entered Mexico reached three million 739 thousand 641, an increase of 23.4 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, which was three million 29 thousand 417.

During the same period, Brazilian citizens recorded the largest influx with 31.6 percent (36 thousand 633), followed by those from Guatemala with 15.3 percent (11 thousand 482) and from China with 9.4 percent (seven thousand 49).
