Netflix has ordered a reboot of the classic Iron Chef food format.
The new series, Iron Chef: Quest For An Iron Legend, is based on the Fuji Television Network’s Iron Chef format and consists of eight episodes.

Iron Chef America, which ran from 2005 to 2018, was the first of many shows to gain viewership in the United States.

The series comes from Keller Productions in conjunction with 3 Ball Productions.
Daniel Kalin, a veteran of the cooking competition reality series format who has worked with MasterChef, Top Chef and Nailed It, serves as executive producer and co-producer alongside 3 Ball’s Eytan Keller and Ross Weintraub.
The original Iron Chef, which premiered in Japan in 1993, was a stylized chef in which visiting chefs challenge one of the series of ‘Iron Chefs’ to a timed cooking battle revolving around an ingredient on a specific theme. It ran in 309 episodes during the period up to September 1999, though specials were occasionally produced until 2002.
The old look: The new series tops several high-profile cooking competitions produced in the United States, such as Iron Chef USA, which failed to achieve top marks among viewers in 2001.
The new series comes on the heels of several cooking competition shows that have been produced for a high-profile American audience.
Iron Chef USA was introduced in 2001 as president to William Shatner, but it didn’t go so well.
