Recipients will be aware of the fix, but won’t be able to see a history of changes.
WhatsApp began enabling the functionality to edit a message worldwide from Monday, with a time window to do so of up to 15 minutes after it’s been sent. Modified chats will show the status “Modified” so recipients are aware of the patch, but they won’t be able to see a history of changes.
We’re excited to give you more control over your conversations, as you can now do anything from correcting simple misspellings to adding extra context to a message. Just long-press on a sent message and choose Edit from the menu. You have up to Fifteen minutes to do it.” The app stated on its official blog on Monday.
Modified messages will display an Edited notification, so recipients will be aware of the correction, but won’t be able to see the change history.
As with all personal messages, multimedia files, and calls, changes will be “protected by end-to-end encryption,” WhatsApp specified.
The feature has already started rolling out worldwide and will be available to all users “in the coming weeks.”
