Gary Lineker insisted he was not under the guise of cake in The Masked Singer.

Donuts was one of the contestants who performed on Saturday night’s opening episode and shared a series of clues before taking the stage to sing Survivor’s Eye Of The Tiger.

judges Davina McCallAnd Jonathan RossAnd Mo Gilligan, s Rita Ora They risked their guesses as to who might be behind the outfit and former soccer star Gary was one of the names thrown into the hat after soccer cues and chips.

But Gary has taken to social media to confirm that he won’t be on the ITV series – now, not ever (unless he’s bragging, of course).

The Match Of The Day host spoke after writer Emma Kennedy wrote on Twitter: “Donut: GaryLineker (no need to thank me).

In response to this claim, Gary wrote, “You’ll never see me on that show…or strictly, never.”

Well, that’s it after that.

But all is not lost, as many of the singer’s masked fans are convinced that Donuts could be former professional footballer Michael Owen, with some saying his tone of voice is “unmistakable”.

The cakes turned out to be a huge hit with audiences, while the character’s clues included that they were “too fast”, that they were “never the lazy type” and that they “run rings of icing around the competition”.
