Four Sonoran basketball players will play for the national team within their category at the FIBA ​​Americas U16 Men’s Championship, which will be held in Xalapa, Veracruz, from August 23-29, which will hand out two tickets for the FIFA U-17 World Cup in the major.

The youth of our entity are Orbit Cabral, Víctor Verdugo, Alberto Mendoza and Gilberto Landavazo, who remain part of the 12 players who will represent Mexico.

The four Sonoras were focused in a national pre-select out of 30 applicants, showing off their impressive level, earning them a stay on the finalist list.

The international event will take place at the USBI University Gymnasium of the University of Veracruzana Xalapa and eight teams will be measured for two tickets, divided into two groups.

In Group A, the host country will face Argentina, Canada and Brazil, while in Group B it will face the United States, Puerto Rico, Chile and the Dominican Republic.

Mexico will start its way on Monday 23 against the Brazilian national team, and on the 24th of the same month it will do the same against Canada, closing on the 25th against the Brazilian national team.

It should be noted that these duels will determine only the keys in which the eight teams will meet in the quarter-finals (the first against the fourth, etc.), and spend each other until the Grand Final, which will secure his ticket to the World Cup.
