Fecyt sees UBU’s science summer as a model for “science socialization” – Burgos

On Thursday, the Director-General of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (Fecyt), Imma Aguilar Nácher, co-presented the Summer Scientific Presentation of the University of Burgos (UBU), a project that highlighted its importance for the “socialization of science and in which more than 380 students participate.

Aguilar Nácher noted that this is the fourth year that FECYT has supported this project on the transfer of knowledge to society. “It is the core DNA of our organization,” he said.

In his view, “Projects like this have a very high cultural value, and they are a space that is open to citizens, with all knowledge of the university, which involves an alliance between a committed city council and a university committed to the transfer of knowledge.”

The Director also noted that for any scientist this transfer is an “obligation” and must be done in a fair, supportive, sustainable and inclusive manner, because the right to science is a human right.

Finally, he highlighted the participation and enthusiasm of the human team involved in the project, which he was able to meet during his visit to the facilities of the Science and Technology Station, which was promoted by the Scientific Culture Unit of the UBU and the Burgos City Council in cooperation with the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology of the Ministry of Science and Innovation.
