Darkfield’s popular multi-sensory experiences hark back to the Perth Cultural Center

The popular multi-sensory immersion experiences in Darkfield, FLIGHT and COMA return for a limited season at Perth Cultural Center, after the Fringe World season ended due to the sudden shutdown in Western Australia in February.

In both FLIGHT and COMA, a strange world of 360-degree binaural sound is constructed that baffles the senses, deepening the immersion by casting doubts on the real and the imagined. Vision loss increases residual senses, making them vulnerable to manipulation.

The trials were presented by Realscape Productions (AU) in association with Darkfield (UK), and the trials will run from May 20 to June 20, 2021.

January saw the debut for COMA in Perth, with the audience lying in bed, each one separate from their mates. Only in the dark, multisensory elements occupy every participant. The strange collective experience sees the audience slide into a collective dream state to explore the dark recesses of their minds.

FLIGHT enclosure has an economical section of a real aircraft installed. The experience takes passengers through two worlds, two facts, and two possible outcomes of their journey. There are many worlds in which a plane lands safely …

Realscape Productions producer Nathan Alexander says: “I am always delighted to return the DARKFIELD containers to Perth. On the day we closed shows at Fringe World, we were immediately in negotiations to return offers as soon as possible. It was a no-brainer – the energy and excitement that is. The Perth crowd bringing it to our shows was something we just can’t wait to try again. ”

In the two short weeks that the container experiments began in January, more than 7,000 participants from Western Australia were ready to dive into themes of fear and anxiety in complete darkness.

Amy Johnson of Realscape Productions added, “Flight tickets and COMA took off in January, and thousands of people lost that opportunity, even before the shows ended. Although our capacity is higher than it was in January, we suggest booking in advance so you don’t miss it.” . “

COMA and FLIGHT are often held at various times Tuesday through Sunday at Perth Cultural Center, Northbridge, from May 20 to June 20, 2021.

COMA and FLIGHT work for 30 minutes. Tickets start at $ 22.50 and are available at www.darkfield.com.au/tickets
