COP26 has been described as the most remarkable in history, but it is no longer a climate conference, […] “It’s a global Green Wash festival,” the activist said.

During the demonstration in front of the headquarters of the United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP26) in Glasgow (Scotland, UK), Greta Thunberg announce That summit turned into a “public relations event” and criticized world leaders for turning urgent discussions into a “green festival”.

“The COP has become a public relations event, where leaders give beautiful speeches and announce cutting-edge commitments and goals, while behind the curtains governments of the Global Nordic countries are still refusing to take any drastic climate action,” Thunberg noted.

“It is no secret that COP 26 failed. It should be clear that we cannot solve the crisis with the same methods that led us to this situation,” the activist said.

Thunberg also accused the organizers of the meeting of allowing it to become a “green washing festival”. COP26 has been described as the most remarkable in history, but it is no longer a climate conference, […] It is a global greenwash festival, […] A two-week celebration of business as usual and such-and-such.”

The term ‘greenwashing’ (or green bleaching) refers to the misinformation that an entity produces to present an overall picture of environmental responsibility.
