Communicaciones and Motagua strive for glory (when and what time is the return leg) – Prensa Libre

Correspondence coming from Guatemala, led by Uruguayan William Quito, and Motagua from Honduras, under the leadership of Argentine coach Diego Vázquez, will determine on Tuesday, December 14, the champions of the Concacaf League 2021, which brings together the best clubs in Central America, Canada and the Caribbean.

The Guatemalans have an advantage after winning the final first leg in Honduras last Wednesday 1-2, and they are ready to assert their domestic standing by winning their first international title since 1983.

The meeting will take place on Tuesday at 9:00 pm at the Doroteo Guamuch Flores Stadium in Guatemala City.

Cuito, who came from a goalless draw last Saturday in the quarter-final first leg of the 2021 Guatemalan Football Apertura Championship against Iztapa, began their focus on the crucial match on Sunday 12th December.

The stadium’s stands are expected to be filled with at least 9,900 fans authorized by the authorities to watch the match and support their club.

The number would be higher given that the stadium has a capacity of nearly 30,000 people, but restrictions due to COVID-19 have reduced the capacity.

For his part, Motagua arrived in Guatemala on Sunday hoping to follow the scoreboard and also on the mission of winning his first CONCACAF Cup.

According to Motagua’s coach, Honduran nationalist Diego Vázquez hopes to return to their country with the title after being eliminated from the Honduran Championship in the semi-finals against Real Spain.

For Motagua, it will be their third final in the CONCACAF League, but they have not won any of the three contested so far.

The 2021 CONCACAF League is a qualification for the CONCACAF Champions League, with the top six teams getting their passports to the regional club competition.
