Canadian Embassy inaugurates an environmental project in the Highlands

The Embassy of Canada, jointly with the Minister of Environment of Panama, Micliades Concepción, opens on Friday, September 17 at 2:00 pm, an environmental project in the Tierras Altas region, in the province of Chiriquí.

The objective of the project is to create a typical recycling scheme, in which all social actors in the development ecosystem of Tierras Altas participate.

The initiative provides 10 recycling stations in schools and 5 collection centers, one in each district in this district.

The project implemented by the Community Base Organization Tierras Altas Recicla (OATAR), with support from MiAmbiente and the Ministry of Education (Meduca), is a pilot plan, which is expected to be implemented in other parts of the country.

Nevertheless, results are expected such as integration of the whole community and organized community, raising awareness through environmental education and creating a habit of separating non-hazardous recyclable materials in the communities of the Tierras Altas region and facilitating the model plan for different communities so that it can be replicated in other regions; Among other things.
