Canada, with everything confirmed for Santiago 2023 and Fukuoka 2023

Swimming Canada and the Canadian Olympic Committee have announced that the full Canadian swimming team has been selected to compete at the 2023 Santiago Pan American Games, also in open water, after doing so in proper swimming.

  • Greg Archhurst (Montreal, QI) – Pool Instructor
  • Pete El Hawary (Halifax, NS) – Open Water Team Manager

the Trials The 2023 Canadian Open Water Championships took place Saturday and Sunday at Governors Beach in Grand Cayman. Emma Finlain won the women’s 10K on Saturday, followed by Abby Dunford (pictured) in second place. In the men’s race, Eric Hedlin, who finished second, and Benjamin Cott, who finished third, were the top swimmers announced to be available at Santiago 2023.

The four will also be part of Team Canada at the 2023 World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka 2023, Japan. Cote, who was previously named to the pool team alongside Finlin, will make his debut with the Canadian national team this year.

It must be remembered that Santiago 2023 will be the first time that Chile will host the Pan American Games. The Games begin on October 20 and end on November 5, 2023 and will feature nearly 7,000 athletes from 41 countries competing in 39 sports.

The discipline has been on the Pan American athletics program since Rio 2007 and in the Olympic sports program since Beijing 2008. Canada has won two Pan American Games medals in open swimming: gold in Guadalajara 2011 by Richard Weinberger and bronze in Rio 2007 by Tanya Honks.
