AMO Creates Sci-Fi Inspired Collection for Prada . Fashion Show
Continuing its longstanding collaboration with Prada, AMO, the research and design arm of OMA, has created a cinematic collection to showcase the brand’s fall-winter 2022 menswear. A yellow carpet wraps around the Deposito room at the Fondazione Prada, reimagined as a theater stage with olive green theater chairs and stage lighting. In the neighborhood, sci-fi tunnels lined with metal and covered in neon lights emphasize The mysterious relationship between theatrical and technological atmospheres.
Prada described it as “Augmented Reality Representation”AMO design brings movie theater ambiance to the showcase. Guests enter through a concrete tunnel that echoes Deposito’s raw materials, in stark contrast to the performance space’s soft and moody design. Models enter the spacious room through sci-fi-inspired metal mesh tunnels illuminated by neon lighting, echoing the design of the spaceship. The chairs are arranged along an orthogonal grid within the venue, leaving a sinuous exhibition space where theatrical lights follow the models. To further emphasize this blurred line between fantasy and reality, actors in Hollywood were called in to design clothes.
The long collaboration between OMA/AMO and Prada, dating back to 2004, is a fertile ground for architectural experiments, generating stunning designs such as Prada adapter From 2009, unexpected fashion shows or elaborate architectural projects such as the headquarters of Prada Foundation.
