UK promises military aid to Ukraine until Russia is defeated | world | Dr..

The United Kingdom will continue to provide military assistance to Ukraine until its victory over Russia, as promised on Wednesday (the new British Prime Minister, Liz Truss, during her speech at the United Nations General Assembly.

“At this crucial moment of the conflict, I promise you that we will maintain or increase our military support to Ukraine for as long as necessary (…) We will only be calm when Ukraine is victorious,” Truss emphasized at the UN podium.

Earlier on Wednesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in a pre-recorded video address broadcast at the General Assembly, called for “fair punishment” of Russia, which US President Joe Biden accused of a “blatant violation” of UN principles.

Russian mobilization “will not work”

Truss estimated that Russian President Vladimir Putin, who on Wednesday morning announced the mobilization of hundreds of thousands of reservists, “was trying to justify his disastrous failure in Ukraine.”

“This will not work. The international coalition is strong and Ukraine is strong,” the British prime minister said.

The Prime Minister promised that “the UK will spend 3 per cent of its GDP on defense between now and 2030, maintaining its leading position as an actor in European security”.
