The Salamanca Division of the British Army, part of the British Army Battalion, occupied the Salamanca audience who gathered this Saturday in the Plaza Mayor to watch the group’s concert.
This band, which takes its name from the Battle of Salamanca, fought in July 1812, first visited the city and was accompanied in its performance by the British ambassador to Spain, Hugh Elliot.
Eleven members of the troupe took part in the performance, along with the necessary group of musicians to form a “band of spirits”, optimized for entertainment in performances in the style of military parade, which they publicly presented to all walking people. Through the Plaza Mayor in the city.
The band is visiting Spain on the occasion of the Armed Forces Day celebration at the ambassador’s residence in Madrid, and before participating in the concert in Salamanca, on Saturday morning they visited the monument to the Battle of Arabelles, at the top of the Arabel Grande.
The division is part of the infantry regiment “The Rifles” of the British Army, the most important battle of which was the Battle of Salamanca, for which they decided to take the name of the city.
