Ukraine’s Defense Ministry reported on Monday that the Ukrainian army made gains in Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second largest city, as it managed to force the enemy to withdraw and retreat to part of the country’s border with Russia.
Ukrainian defenders are continuing a successful counterattack north of Kharkiv, the ministry posted on its Facebook account, specifying that a battalion of the 127th Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is from the city of Kharkiv. He pushed the Russians back and reached part of the state’s borders.
The final part of the Ukrainian Supreme Military Command also includes the situation in the Kharkiv region, although it shows that the enemy continues to focus its efforts on maintaining its positions in that region.
The report adds that the Russian army continues its offensive in the area of operations in eastern Ukraine, in the direction of Donetsk, where it attacked military and civilian infrastructure, and is preparing for another offensive in the Izum region.
It also states that Russian forces consolidated their control of the border between Ukraine and Russia in the Bryansk and Kursk regions and attacked civilian infrastructure in the area of \u200b\u200bthe towns of Duvinki, Russky Tishki, Ternova and Petrevka with artillery.
In Mariupol, intense artillery and air bombardment continues, according to the military report, which highlights the main efforts of the Russian army focused on disrupting and eliminating Ukrainian units in the area of the Azovstal steel plant.
During the last day, Ukrainian air defense units shot down 11 enemy air targets: two helicopters (Ka-52 and Mi-28), seven operational and tactical drones, and two cruise missiles.
The Ukrainian command also reported that in the past 24 hours, 17 enemy attacks in the Donetsk and Luhansk directions were repelled, three enemy tanks, an artillery system, six armored personnel carriers and one vehicle were destroyed.
