Former Vice President Joe Biden called a retired Marine a liar and challenged him to a pushup contest during a recent event in Iowa.
Biden was confronted by U.S. Marine Merle Gorman over his son Hunter’s possible corruption doing business in Ukraine. Gorman asked Biden why he was allowed to essentially sell access to President Obama to enrich his own family.
Instead of having a discussion or kicking Gorman out of the event, Joe Biden said, “You want to check my shape man, let’s do push-ups together here, man. Let’s run. Let’s do whatever you want to do. Let’s take an IQ test. Ok?”
Joe Biden, who is himself 77 years old, also told Merle Gorman, 83 “You’re too old to vote for me” and seemed to even call him FAT during the furious exchange in front of a very small crowd of elderly folks. Joe Biden’s campaign manager, Simone Sanders, tried to cover for him insulting Gorman’s weight, claiming he actually said, “Look, fact, here’s the deal.” Many people doubt this assertion since it makes the sentence even less coherent.
Following the heated attacks by Joe Biden against Gorman, the retired Marine told the New York Post, “I’m positive 90% of the people there didn’t know about his son working on the board in Ukraine. I wanted it brought out there.”
Merle Gorman went on to say that the other people in the crowd were simply asking softball questions made for the media, “They [other attendees at the campaign stop] might as well have been asking him what color the chandelier was in the vice president’s office.”
Many people online have asked Joe Biden to go through with his threat to have a physical challenge, some even suggesting they would pay to see the bout.
