Pop singer Aaron Carter was ordered by a judge to surrender his guns, after his twin sister, Angel Conrad, obtained a restraining order against him in September. Upon hearing the order, Carter went “nuts” in court, threatening to just go out of state and buy more.
Just two months ago, Backstreet Boy Nick Carter, Aaron’s brother, sought a restraining order against him as well, due to his “increasingly alarming behavior:” Specifically, according to Nick, Aaron threatened to kill Nick’s wife and their unborn child. Aaron denies this accusation.

Angel Conrad obtained the restraining order after telling the court that she feared for her life and that of her husband and daughter.
In September, Aaron, appearing on The Doctors, revealed that he had been diagnosed with schizophrenia, multiple personality disorder, bipolar disorder, manic depression and anxiety. He has had a long and difficult battle with drug abuse and general well-being, as well as strained familial relationships that first came to light in 2006 reality TV show House of Carters. The Carter siblings have always had a complicated family dynamic, especially after their sister Leslie died in 2012 of a drug overdose.

If Aaron violates the Court order, and does not surrender his guns, he could be held in contempt of court and jailed. However, given Aaron’s very serious mental health diagnoses, and his alleged threats against multiple family members, suspending his ability to cause harm, at least with guns, is a reasonable safety precaution. Aaron and his twin sister, Angel, used to be very close, so this restraining order may be the final straw that hopefully gets him to seek help.
