Congressman Jim Jordan went in front of reporters following the end of the first impeachment hearings and let them know he thinks the probe is an even bigger partisan sham now.
Rep. Jordan a rising star of the Republican party who has played a major role in the current impeachment hearings led the Republican press response following the hearings of former Ambassador Bill Taylor and State Department employee George Kent.
When asked if he believed Sondland’s testimony that aid was dependent on the investigation into Burisma Holdings, Congressman Jim Jordan sternly replied:
“The Facts are squarely strongly on the President’s side.”
When a reporter asked Jordan if he knows who the whistleblower is and will identify him, he fired back:
“There is one member of congress who knows who the whistleblower is. One member of congress whose staff interviewed the whistleblower and that’s Adam Schiff.”
Adam Schiff, the Democrat Congressman nominated to lead the impeachment probe into President Trump, famously lied about his knowledge of the whistleblower in interviews when the investigation began.
Despite Schiff insisting multiple times that he did not have any knowledge of the whistleblower, he finally was forced to admit that his congressional staff had actually met with the CIA Agent before he had even filed his report with the Intelligence Community Inspector General.
Even during today’s hearing, Congressman Adam Schiff claimed again that he does not know the identity of the whistleblower.
During a heated exchange, Jim Jordan told Schiff:
“Do you anticipate when we might vote on the ability to have the whistleblower in front of us something you, out of the 435 members of Congress, you’re the only member who knows who that individual is and your staff is the only staff of any member of Congress who has had a chance to talk with that individual.”
Schiff quickly shot back, “As the gentleman knows, that’s a false statement. I do not know the identity of the whistle-blower and I’m determined to make sure that identity is protected.”
However, it was quickly pointed out that, if Schiff didn’t know the whistleblower’s identity, he would be unable to protect it despite claims he would investigate anybody who named him.
Many Republicans believe Adam Schiff should testify in the investigation he is running because of his early contact with the whistleblower and the fact that he has been caught lying about it.
