National Security Advisor Robert O’Brien appeared on CBS’ “Face The Nation” on Sunday to talk about the reduction in personnel at the National Security Council by almost half coming soon.

He told CBS host Margaret Brennan that the agency had bloated to over 236 people. O’Brien was just appointed to the National Security Advisor in September after John Bolton was pushed out of the roll and is intent on cleaning house at the council.

Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman is scheduled to be rotated out of his post at the National Security Council and shipped back to the Department of Defense.

Margaret Brennan asked O’Brien if this was “retaliation” against Vindman for his testimony against the President.

O’Brien unequivocally said that everyone at the NSC was being rotated back to respective departments and that new blood would be brought in.

One of the highlighted pieces of testimony showed that Vindman believed that the President “demanded” something from the Ukrainians.

Ratcliffe asked Vindman in the testimony, “A week following you listening in on a phone call with the President of the United States making a request of the Ukrainian Government to assist in ongoing investigations, a member of his National Security Council subsequently told Ukrainian officials to do just the opposite and to ignore his request and stay out of U.S. politics. Is that what we’re to understand from your testimony today?”
