President Trump’s former Ambassador to UN Nikki Haley came out swinging in defense of her former boss during an interview with CBS.
Nikki Haley spoke to CBS in an interview set to air this weekend.
Haley told CBS anchor Norah O’Donnell:
“You’re going to impeach a president for asking for a favor that didn’t happen and — and giving money and it wasn’t withheld? I don’t know what you would impeach him on.”
“Impeachment is, like, the death penalty for a public official. When you look at the transcript, there’s nothing in that transcript that warrants the death penalty for the president.”
Nikki Haley has been a strong supporter of the President since his 2016 campaign. It is often rumored, although unconfirmed, that she could be President Trump’s chosen successor in 2024.
Haley went on to defend the fact that Ukraine never made the alleged investigation into the Biden family and the United States never actually withheld any funding from Ukraine, making a Quid-Pro-Quo impossible.
“The Ukrainians never did the investigation. And the president released the funds. I mean, when you look at those, there’s just nothing impeachable there.
Impeachment Democrats have been accusing the President of establishing a quid-pro-quo with Ukraine to force them to investigate potential corruption by Joe and Hunter Biden in 2014 and 2016. Hunter Biden received a job on the board of a Ukrainian gas company which, he claimed in a recent interview, was only because of who his dad is.
She also noted a key issue with the alleged impeachment investigation, that it is currently being led by Democrats in Congress with clear political agendas in a private room instead of a Special Council with public hearings.
“And more than that, I think the biggest thing that bothers me is the American people should decide this. Why do we have a bunch of people in Congress making this decision?”
Nikki Haley, the former Governor of South Carolina, currently serves on the board of Boeing after she stepped down from Trump’s administration on good terms. She still openly advocates for the president.
