Republican rap star Kanye West announced his plans to run for President of the United States in 2024 while attending the Fast Company Innovation Festival in New York City on Thursday.
Kanye West, an outspoken supporter of President Donald Trump, told the crowd in New York City:
Kanye: “When I run for president in 2024, we’re going to definitely-
Kanye: Yo whatchu all laughing at? When I run for president in 2024, we would’ve created so many jobs that, in fact, I’m going to walk.”
Kanye West continued:
“What I’m saying is, when y’all read the headlines, ‘Kanye’s crazy,’ this and that, this and that, it’s like one in three African Americans are in jail and all of the celebrities are in jail also because they can’t say nothing! They’ve got no opinion! They’re so scared!”
Kanye West has floated the idea of a possible Presidential run multiple times recently, seemingly inspired by President Donald Trump.
West often preaches the merits of black voters breaking away from the Democrat party and considering voting Republican instead. Kanye also became an outspoken born-again Christian recently and released a curse word-free album called “Jesus is King”.
Kanye recently attended the 189th Semiannual General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ in Salt Lake City where he told the crowd of over 10,000:
“That’s the Republican Party that freed the slaves…And we got the right, right?’ We got a right to our opinions, right? They try to tell me because of my color who I’m supposed to pick as the president.”
Kanye West and his wife, Kim Kardashian West, have worked closely with President Trump on criminal justice reform ever since he took office. The West family played a pivotal roll in the crafting of and lobbying for President Trump’s landmark criminal justice reform program, the First Step Act.
Kanye West and President Trump have maintained a strong relationship since the two met a Trump Tower after Donald Trump was elected in 2016 and before he was inaugurated.
