On Wednesday, Chairman of the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Rep. Adam Schiff released the transcript from the deposition of Ukraine Ambassador Bill Taylor with the name Eric Ciaramella unredacted. Ciaramella is allegedly the whistleblower.

In the document, the name Eric Ciaramella was found on page 236 of the Transcript. You can read the entire transcript released by Schiff here.

Republican committee lawyer Steve Castor asked Taylor if he’s heard of or had communicated with the Eric Ciaramella who is alleged to be the whistleblower. Taylor denied knowing him at all.

The name Eric Ciaramella has been circulating around the internet and capitol hill as being the whistleblower. Ciaremella currently works at the CIA and and worked on the National Security Council under H.R. McMaster.

This comes after attorney Mark Zaid, who represents the whistleblower in the Ukraine impeachment inquiry, warned Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) that publicizing the name of the “whistleblower” would make him and President Trump responsible for any harm that happens to the client.

Would this apply to Adam Schiff?

Zaid also mocked Paul in the tweets and saying that his actions “undermine #whistleblower protection & may lead to physical harm/harassment of my client.”

This came after Paul said on Tuesday night that he could likely name the whistleblower. “There’s nothing that prevents me from saying it now,” Paul told Fox.

Schiff along with Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs Rep. Eliot L. Engle and Acting Chairwoman of the Committee on Oversight and reform Rep. Carolyn Maloney released the following statement on the releases of the documents:

“The testimony of Ambassador Taylor—a West Point graduate, Vietnam veteran, and nonpartisan diplomat—shows how President Trump withheld military aid to Ukraine and conditioned its release, as well as a vital White House meeting, on the President of Ukraine publicly announcing investigations into debunked conspiracy theories involving the Bidens and the 2016 election.  “Ambassador Taylor’s testimony lays bare how this shadow foreign policy channel pursued by the President’s agent, Rudy Giuliani, with the assistance of Ambassadors Sondland and Volker, placed immense pressure on the Ukrainian government to accomplish the President’s goal. Ambassador Taylor makes clear why this military aid and continued bipartisan support for Ukraine are so critically important—and why these efforts to undermine U.S. foreign policy for domestic political reasons were so damaging. We look forward to his public testimony.”

The naming of Eric Ciaramella could be a mistake in the testimony. This morning there were murmurs online that Schiff had pulled down the deposition transcript in response. These were not true as we have linked to it above.
