Beto O’Rourke got chewed out by a Trump-supporting Republican woman named Rebecca Carnes during a campaign stop in Newtown, Connecticut on Thursday evening.
Former Congressman O’Rourke made a campaign stop in Newtown on Thursday to pitch his radical gun control ideas that have become the staple of his campaign.
However, not everyone is a fan of Beto in Newtown. One Trump supporter named Rebecca Carnes showed up and called him out for his radical policies before challenging O’Rourke to a debate.
After Beto O’Rourke began pitching his gun-grabbing plan, Rebecca Carnes stood up and declared:
“They’re here to hijack this town and to try to make an issue out of getting guns out of good peoples’ hands that can make a difference.”
Rebecca declared the issue was not guns, but instead an issue of mental health and about “boys and masculinity.”
She also made it clear that the reason she was challenging the Democrat candidate was “To stand up for not only myself and all the other survivors. I think it’s all about the voice and the power that young citizens have.”
Rebecca Carnes asked Beto, “Why don’t you debate me?”
Beto O’Rourkes staffers moved in to try and usher Rebecca out (while refusing to physically touch her), but she simply ignored them and kept her attention completely on the candidate.
She accused Beto of visiting the site of the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting purely for politics, claiming it is proof of how little Democrats care.
She ended her speech by yelling “Democrats are out! Trump 2020 he’s saving the world.”
Beto O’Rourke has been attacked by Republicans and moderates after he declared he wants to send federal police officers to the houses of people who own “assault weapons” and take their guns by force if needed.
