Rep. Louie Gohmert (R- Texas) essentially names the Ukraine whistleblower after PEN Media reported on the man that is being alleged to be the whistleblower that kicked off the Trump Impeachment investigation.
He gave a strange speech on the house floor discussing who the whistleblower is that kicked off Adam Schiff’s impeachment probe.
Gohmert claimed that the unnamed whistleblower used his status to protect himself from criminal prosecution.
“It could make sense if you’re a co-conspirator in trying to bring down a duly elected president that you might want that whistleblower status,” said Gohmert, who was elected in 2004.
Here’s another video below.
He gave the opinion in a floor speech after the near party vote in the House to move forward the impeachment inquiry.
Gohmert was referring to recent evidence circulating on Capitol Hill alleging a certain unnamed whistleblower. He discussed that Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster was involved with the whistleblower while he was his national security adviser for 15 months ending April 2018.
The whistleblower is a registered Democrat and was hired on to the White House under Obama. He worked with Vice President Joe Biden and former CIA Director John Brennan.
“Everyone knows who he is. CNN knows. The Washington Post knows. The New York Times knows. Congress knows. The White House knows. Even the president knows who he is,” said Fred Fleitz, a former CIA analyst and national security adviser to Trump.
“Say hypothetically you work for somebody like McMasters and Brennan, and you helped come up with a conspiracy to oust a duly elected sitting president by alleging some conspiracy with Russia,” Gohmert said.
He continued with his hypothetical, saying that federal prosecutors “assigned to investigate the origins of the Russia hoax were closing in on participants of your conspiracy. Well, if you had a really smart lawyer, he might just tell you, if you could get a whistleblower status, if they start closing in on you, then we can start filing motions to keep you out of that prosecution because you’re a whistleblower.”
“It’s about to push this country to a civil war if they were to get their wishes,” Gohmert warned. “And if there’s one thing I don’t want to see in my lifetime, I don’t want to ever have participation in, it’s a civil war. Some historian, I don’t remember who, said, guns are only involved in the last phase of a civil war.”
Gohmert was with half a dozen GOP lawmakers last week during a storming of House Intelligence Leader Adam Schiff’s basement hearings on the Trump impeachment probe.
He also claimed on WBAP’s Mark Davis Show that he knew who the identity of the whistleblower was. Despite requests to his office, he has not given any details.
Oho Rep. Jim Jordan a senior Republican on the House Oversight committee complained recently that Schiff is the only member of Congress that knows who the whistleblower is.
Jordan followed up this Thursday during the House debate on impeachment rules: “435 members of Congress, only one individual, one member of this body, knows who this person is who started this whole darn crazy process, Chairman Schiff.”
Gohmert previously dropped the name whistleblower name during a House Natural Resources Committee hearing on Puerto Rico’s finances.
“Are you aware of Ukrainian parliamentarian [Olga] Bielkova’s April 12 meetings with Liz Zentos and the whistleblower of the Obama National Security Council?” Gohmert questioned Natalie Jaresko.
Jaresko was bewildered at the time.
