An outpouring of condolences and tributes have been paid to the late actor, who began as a stand-up comedian and eventually became known for his role as Ice Cube’s dad in the Friday franchise. He went on to voice Grandad Freeman for the animated cult series Boondocks, and starred as Shawn and Marlon Wayans’ dad Pops in The Wayans Bros.
