Former Vice President Joe Biden responded to questions at a CNN Town Hall last night about racial disparities in health – including the HIV rates of African Americans.
The viral moment hit when Biden went on a bizarre tangent about San Francisco and gay bathhouses. Watch the clip where he describes being kissed by Obama.
The entire thing was a train wreck.
“Remember, Anderson? Back 15, 20 years ago, when we talked about this in San Francisco, it was all about, well, gay bathhouses,” Biden told Anderson Cooper.
Biden then discussed a strange moment he had with Obama. Watch the CNN clip below.
“It was all about round-the-clock sex. Come on, man. Gay couples are more likely to stay together longer than heterosexual couples.”
People responded quickly on twitter.
People on Twitter pointed out that San Francisco’s bathhouses were effectively banned in 1984 – with the final one closing in 1987.
Biden was originally the front-runner for Democrat presidential nomination and was one of the nine politicians that appeared on stage of the LGBT+ town hall.
At the event, Biden discussed his LGBT+ legacy and talked about the fact that he voiced his support for same-sex marriage before former President Obama.
Elizabeth Warren is currently polling at a close second and appeared more coherent at the town hall.
Buttigieg also spoke at the town hall and would become the first openly gay president if elected. He spoke about his overturning of the ban on blood donations queer men.
“I remember the moment when I realised that, unlike most initiatives that I spearhead, I can’t lead by example on this one, because my blood’s not welcome in this country,” he said.
