Hollywood’s own far-left activist Jane Fonda was arrested in Washington D.C. on Friday.
Fonda was protesting for “Climate Justice” on the steps of the U.S. Capitol Building alongside the group Oil Change International.
According to the L.A. Times, Jane Fonda moved out to Washington D.C. for the sole purpose of getting arrested. She claimed she was there to “protest every Friday”.
The actress claimed she was “inspired and emboldened by the incredible movement” led by Climate Change activist Greta Thunberg.
Jane Fonda wrote:
“I can no longer stand by and let our elected officials ignore – and even worse – empower – the industries that are destroying our planet for profit. We can not continue to stand for this.”
She referred to her attempts to get arrested as “Fire Drill Fridays” and explained that she had gotten permission from her bosses at Netflix to participate in the protests.
Fonda is probably best known for her role in protesting the Vietnam war, where she famously spit on American soldiers and even met with and supported the Vietcong, who we were fighting at the time. She earned the nickname “Hanoi Jane” for this.
She is a regular political activist for left-wing causes still to this day. She also takes a strong stance against President Donald Trump. In a recent interview, she suggested recruiting “gorgeous climate activists” to D.C. in hopes that they will sway the President.
She has also protested against certain Democrat politicians as well, frequently criticizing former California Governor Jerry Brown for drilling for oil in the state.
