This has not been a good week for radical Islamic Socialist Rep. Ilhan Omar.
First, she banned from visiting Israel over her support for the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanction movement. Now it looks like she may be in trouble for tax fraud and (more) campaign finance violations.
According to the Minnesota Sun, State Rep. Steve Drazkowski (R-Mazeppa) is filing an official request with the IRS to review Omar’s 2014 and 2015 tax returns. He is joined by State Reps. Eric Lucero, Shane Mekeland, Linda Runbeck, Tim Miller, Cal Bahr, Jeremy Munson and more.
The Sun reported that Omar filed joint tax returns in 2014 and 2015 with Ahmed Hirsi. Omar was married still to Ahmed Nur Said Elmi from 2009 to 2017.
Omar claims to have “corrected” her filings since then, but Drazkowski says that she may have improperly used her 2018 campaign funds to do so. Drazkowski has asked the IRS to examine “improper payments” she received for speaking at several colleges.
Omar was a member of the Higher Education Committee at the time of the payments, meaning she oversaw the budgets of the same schools she was getting paid by.
Drazkowski also created a petition for the IRS to investigate Omar’s finances that had been signed by over 44,000 people prior to his official filing. Clearly, people want answers.
This is not the first time the two Minnesota politicians have butted heads. In June, Drazkowski asked Minnesota Rep Angie Craig to open a full ethics investigation into Ilhan Omar and also withdraw her security clearances. At the time he claimed there was sufficient evidence that the congresswoman committed Tax and Immigration Fraud.
How many accusations can Omar dodge before she finally gets taken down?
